Abstract Self Portraits
This lesson challenges students to broaden their definition of self-portraiture. Using a digital camera, students shot images of their own body that made their likeness unrecognizable. From printouts of their photos, students cropped into the image to create successful compositions that they rendered in charcoal and conte crayon. On midtone paper, students completed monochromatic drawings of their abstracted self-portraits.
